'Sowerby Bridge Snippets' Guided Walk
Every Wednesday 18th July till 26th September
Enjoy a one and a half mile guided walk around Sowerby Bridge, looking at snippets of the town’s history and heritage including; the deepest lock in the country, the ‘Tower of Spite’, the town’s Brontë connection, the company that powered the world, the local punishment for scolding wives & brewers of bad ale, ‘Happy Valley’ filming locations and more! Just watch out for the Geese…

Meet Chris Evans from the VisitCalderdale Tourism Team at 11am on Wednesday July 18th by the picnic tables outside The Moorings, Sowerby Bridge Wharf Canal basin, HX6 2AG.
The route follows pavements with a short stretch of canal towpath.
The route may vary depending on weather and the ability of those wishing to participate. Routes can be made suitable for wheelchair users, please contact Chris in advance for advice at email@example.com.
The walk is best suited for adult ages. Children aged under 16 must be under close supervision of their guardian/parent at all times. No dogs on this walk, please. The walk lasts for approx one hour.
Parking is available at Sowerby Bridge Wharf Canal Basin HX6 2AG, or nearby at Stanley Street pay & display car park HX6 2AF.
The walk costs £3 per person and tickets are available from Halifax Visitor Centre. You can call in to pick up your ticket in person (please see the Centre’s opening times below) or you can place your order by telephone and have your tickets posted to you for an extra £1.50.
